MacMillan Cancer Support

Our charity of the year initiative is a key part of the way we support communities. The Charity of the Year becomes the main focus for staff fundraising and is chosen by our Employee of the Year.

Our charity of the year for 2007 is MacMillan Cancer Support which is the national charity aiming to improve the lives of people affected by cancer by providing practical, medical, emotional and financial support and pushing for better cancer care.

Dawn Northwood, one of our customer services officers, is the Employee of 2007 and nominated the charity as they nursed her father, when he was ill with cancer and were a great support to her family.

Throughout the year our staff will be raising money, through fund-raising events such as our golf day, raffles, cake sales and sponsored events.

In 2006 we raised over £5,000 for the MS Society, the UK's largest charity for people affected by Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and we have previously supported SunnySide Kennels, part of the Birmingham Dogs Home.
