Coseley
Coseley is a town located within the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley in the English West Midlands. It is part of the Black Country.
The town lies south east of Wolverhampton and north of Dudley. Coseley has a railway station on the West Coast Main Line which is served by Central Trains.
The village developed into a town to service the growing coalmines, in the 1830s there were more than 50 pits within the town's boundaries.
Coseley Urban District Council built several thousand council houses and flats over a 40-year period from the mid 1920s which changed the face of the area.
The Birmingham to Wolverhampton canal passes through Coseley with a tunnel which is 329 metres long and has a tow-path each side. The north portal, in Ivyhouse Lane, and the south portal, in School Street, are Grade ll listed and the original industrial traffic has given way to leisure transport. South of the tunnel is a surprisingly green and secluded cutting where short stay moorings for boats have been provided and named 'Coseley Stop'.
