A New Way of Applying for Housing
From summer 2008, South Staffordshire Housing Association will be changing the way in which our properties are allocated in order to address concerns raised by residents.
The current points based allocations system will be replaced by a Choice Based Lettings scheme which will make the process more transparent and provide greater clarity over how we allocate properties to people on the waiting list.
The proposed scheme provides greater choice and opportunity for people to find housing which meets their needs by:
- allowing people to express their interest in applying for individual homes as they become available
- taking into account length of time on the waiting list as well as housing needs
- taking account of the reasons why the person is seeking housing.
The details of the scheme are set out in the draft policy, and the Association welcomes comments from people who are already on our waiting list, or who would be interested in applying for housing, on the wording of the Policy and where we can make it easier to understand.
South Staffordshire Housing Association is committed to providing customers with easy access to all of its services. We believe in and are committed to equal treatment for all of our customers. We value diversity, and we seek to reduce disadvantages people experience by making our services more responsive to community and individual needs.
A Choice Based Lettings scheme and our shared ownership properties work together to fulfil our mission of providing quality homes and services that people want and can afford, in communities where people want to live.
If you want to make any comments please contact us by the end of June 2008.
