Supporting Communities

At South Staffordshire Housing Association, we believe that our role is not just to provide homes but to support the creation of successful neighbourhoods and communities. One of the ways we do this is by sponsoring local groups, charities and community organisations to help them with their day-to-day activities.

The association is keen to hear from local groups who need funding to support the local community. Community groups who wish to apply for a grant can download our Application for Sponsorship Form.

Playing our Part in Perton

South Staffordshire Housing Association has part-funded a brand new play area for the youngsters of Perton. The £2000 donation from the local housing association was put into the pot containing a Big Lottery Fund windfall and cash injections from Goodyear, South Staffordshire Council, Staffordshire County Council’s Youth Bank and from a County Councillor.

South Staffordshire Housing Association Managing director, Sue Rowley said: “We are delighted to be able to support this initiative. We work at the heart of communities and we believe that providing healthy and positive physical activities for children is a key to sustainable neighbourhoods. Perton Parish Council did a brilliant job in rallying the community behind this project and we are pleased to have played a role.”

Wheaton Aston Wanderers’ new manager Alun Watts has got off to a fine start by securing a sponsorship deal with a local housing association.

Alun says “I am delighted that South Staffordshire Housing Association has donated funds for a new kit for the first team and reserve players. This will be used in all home and away games. Hopefully it will bring us luck!”

Sue Rowley, Managing Director of South Staffordshire Housing Association said: “South Staffordshire Housing Association is working at the heart of the community, with younger and older people. We are keen to sponsor local groups in projects which promote healthy lifestyles and positive physical activities.”

Youngsters Paint a Rosy Picture Thanks to Donation

Picture shows youngsters Megan Higgs and Niah Boniface, getting stuck into the painting at First Expressions Early Learning, in Featherstone .

Children at a Staffordshire nursery were all smiles when they staged their own art masterclass.

The youngsters, aged between two and five, put paint to paper – and each other – at First Expressions Early Learning, in Featherstone, a non-profit-making pre-school scheme set up three years ago that offers free-funded places for three and four-year olds.

South Staffordshire Housing Association donated £200 to the club to help pay for the materials and contribute to the on-going costs.

“We rely on donations so this money from South Staffordshire Housing Association is greatly appreciated and went towards general resources and new equipment,” said new manager Lisa Boniface.

Debbie Elliott, chief executive of the housing association, said: "Supporting community projects is a vital part of what we do and we were delighted to be able to help out First Expressions."
