Local housing group looks for a new team

Leading West Midlands-based housing organisation, Housing Plus, has appointed Angie Mason to manage its new affordable apartments for the over 55s in Cannock, and is currently recruiting a team of people to join her.

Vine Court is a development of 83 apartments which are specifically designed for people aged 55 and over to live independently, but with 24 hour support and personal care at hand should they need it.

With over 15 years experience in the care profession, Angie has been appointed as Care and Support Manager at the development and is looking for a team who share the Housing Plus care ethos; that support services should be flexible and tailored to assist independent living.

Housing Plus is committed to creating jobs for local people and is currently recruiting senior team leaders, administration staff, care and support workers and a handy person to support Angie. The organisation is holding a recruitment open day on 8th June at Cannock District Office and is encouraging anyone who is enthusiastic and motivated to come along and discuss the opportunities that are available.

Jo Grainger, head of care services at Housing Plus explains: “We are looking to appoint a team who have a passion for people and will help to create a community at Vine Court. Even if you have no experience in care services, you may still have the skills required, and, because we offer full on-the-job training, you could be part of this fantastic scheme when it opens later this year.”

Angie, who previously worked for Wolverhampton Social Services and Accord Housing Association in Tipton, comments: “I have joined Housing Plus because I share the company’s ethos that care should be personalised; allowing individuals to choose the type of care they want, how often they want it and when they want it. I have dedicated my career to helping people maximise their independence and believe that choice is key to enabling this. It is an extremely rewarding job and I’d encourage others to talk to us about becoming part of the team.”

Vine Court is due to open in autumn 2010 and will be the first development to benefit from Housing Plus’s new care service, which will be launched during Carers Week (14-20 June). Apartments are available to rent or to part rent, part buy. Anyone interested in reserving an apartment should contact South Staffordshire Housing Association on 01785 312000.

The Vine Court Recruitment Event will take place between 10am and 4.30pm on 8th June in the Cannock District Council Office, Beecroft Road. For further information about the event or the jobs available at Vine Court call 01785 312357.
