Local MP Gavin Williamson joined Wombourne residents and South Staffordshire Housing Association (SSHA) staff in a Big Tidy Up of the village last week.
The Wombourne Big Tidy Up was one of a number of clean up events arranged by SSHA’s neighbourhood team. Local South Staffordshire MP Gavin Williamson joined forces with children from SSHA’s Junior Warden scheme, local residents and SSHA staff to make sure the village was litter free.
The Wombourne tidy up event was part of a national initiative which was launched last year by ‘Keep Britain Tidy’ to encourage people to come together and make a difference to the place where they live, work or study. More than 12,000 Big Tidy Ups have taken place across England, and 90,000 bags of rubbish have been collected by over half a million volunteers.
Jan Goode, director of customer services at SSHA said: “At SSHA we provide much more than just homes. Our Big Tidy Up events are always well supported and they help residents to feel a sense of pride in their local communities, making them happier places to live.”
