A poll of Swindon village residents has shown a clear majority in favour of a scheme to build 14 new properties to meet local housing needs.
Leader of the Parish Council Roger Lees said today: "The Parish Council is pleased with this result. We think the housing will be very beneficial to the village, helping to sustain its amenities and viability in the longer term. We hope planning permission will now be granted so that work can start as soon as possible."
The proposed homes will be owned and managed by South Staffordshire Housing Association for the benefit of the village. The properties will be available for rent and for shared-ownership for people who can prove a local connection.
Development director for SSHA, Ursula Bennion, said today: "We have worked hard on this development with the planners, with village residents and with the parish and district councils. It is sympathetically designed and makes good use of the land without being intrusive. Most importantly, we know it meets the housing needs of local people and will help to sustain the village in the long term."
South Staffordshire Council will hear the planning application on June 2nd.
