Work clubs

Are you looking for a job, training or work experience?

Local work clubs run by the charity South Staffs Work Clubs offer advice, training, and support to people looking for employment.

  • Benefits advice
  • ICT training and access to free internet for job searching
  • Access to volunteering opportunities
  • Preventative help and support with budgeting
  • Access to training and work placements offered by local businesses

SSHA tenant Lesley changed her life with the help of a work club. Building Better Opportunities officer Jenny Kirkby knows Lesley well: “Lesley had been unable to work for some time and was lacking in confidence. She started coming to her local work club and we also provided one-to-one support in her home. We were delighted when she gained full-time employment.”

Work club support for Lesley didn’t end when she started work. She had help to maximise housing benefit and working tax credits and stayed in close touch with Jenny: “It’s great to hear from people like Lesley, who have used the work clubs to gain employment and improve their lives”, says Jenny.
