Easter bonnets on parade at Staffordshire housing provider

Residents of a supported living housing scheme in Staffordshire celebrated Easter by holding an Easter bonnet competition.

The residents of Oak House in Bentons Lane, Great Wyrley, used their weekly craft workshops to design and make a colourful collection of traditional bonnets. Singer Diane Wallace stepped in to judge the ‘top hat’ during an entertainment evening held at the popular scheme, which is owned by South Staffordshire Housing Association, part of the Housing Plus Group.

Indulgent Easter treats were awarded to the makers of the best bonnets, with funding, volunteer and Care Plus engagement manager Yvette Tompkins praising what she called “fantastic creativity” among the entrants.

“Oak House has a very busy programme of social activities throughout the year run by a committee and helping to create a lively sense of community. This was another great example of the residents throwing themselves into an activity and having a lot of fun at the same time,” she said.
