First preview for new housing with care and support scheme

Residents are being given the first glimpse of independent living at a state-of-the-art housing with care and support scheme in the heart of Penkridge.

A preview event for people interested in living at Pencric, a development of 82 one and two-bedroom apartments, is being held on Wednesday, March 6, at Penkridge Peace Memorial Hall, from 2pm to 7pm.

Staff from Care Plus, which will manage the scheme at Tildesley Close, Penkridge, will be on hand to give people more information and register people’s interest in the homes.

Presentations are being given at 2.30pm and 5.30pm, to explain more about the available accommodation, facilities, expert care and support team, and care and support packages to be tailored to people’s needs.

Pencric is a modern purpose-built scheme of one and two-bedroom apartments available for rent, shared ownership (part rent – part buy) and outright sale.

The scheme is for people mainly aged over 55, or younger people with a need for care and support.

Jackie Owen, care and support manager for Pencric, said: “This is an opportunity for people who have heard about Pencric and think it might be suitable for them or a family member to come and talk to us.

“Pencric will provide a new vibrant community at the heart of Penkridge. It is a perfect choice for people looking to live independently in their own spacious apartment with the reassurance of care and support from an on-site team of professionals when they need it.”

The modern apartments will be within an attractive, light and airy building that will also include a café, restaurant, hair and beauty salon, and gym for use by residents and the wider community.

Pencric is being built by Housing Plus, of which Care Plus is a part, thanks to funding from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), South Staffordshire Council and Staffordshire Council, as well as Housing Plus.

The scheme is due for completion in 2014.
