Paying your rent is a key part of the tenancy agreement you have with us. It is your responsibility to make sure that your rent is paid on time – whether you pay your rent yourself or it is paid by someone else, including housing benefit.
If you are struggling to pay your rent, talk to us. We can work together to try to ensure that you don’t fall into rent debt and risk losing your home.
The rent that you pay covers the cost of repairs and maintenance, helps us to provide new homes in local communities and means that we can invest in improvements such as new kitchens, bathrooms and energy efficient boilers.
You can view a copy of the 2021-22 rent calendar which lets you know when your rent is due and, if applicable, indicates any rent free weeks you may have.
Listed below are the range of different ways you can pay your rent.
Most customers find that the easiest way to pay their rent is by direct debit. It is convenient and gives you the peace of mind that your rent will be paid on time. You can choose a regular payment date between 1st and 28th of each month to suit your circumstances.
You can find a direct debit form in the Welcome Pack you received at the start of your tenancy, or call our customer services team on 01785 312000 to set up a direct debit over the telephone with you.
Alternatively, simply print off the direct debit form below and once completed please return it to SSHA, Acton Court, Acton Gate, Stafford, ST18 9AP
You can use the My SSHA service to pay your rent, check your balance and download past statements.
Standing orders offer another convenient way to pay your rent. Set up your payment using a standing order form (available from us) and make sure that you include your rent reference number. Remember, though, that you will need to adjust the payment amount when you receive your annual rent review letter to avoid overpayment or arrears.
You can pay your rent by swipe card at any of the 28,000 PayPoint terminals in convenience stores, newsagents, supermarkets, garages and Post Offices.
